Premier, Inc. recently hosted its annual all-employee Values Conference and I have to say, it’s one of our best ones yet! Every year, we bring all of our employees together to emphasize our mission and values, celebrate successes, learn from one another and recognize the outstanding work we’re doing.
And we’ve been doing this since 1998!
This year’s agenda featured:
- A powerful keynote from our President and CEO Susan DeVore
- A great strategic business overview from our COO Mike Alkire and CFO Craig McKasson
- A Q&A session with leadership where employees were able to steer the conversation
- Concurrent sessions ranging from topics such as healthcare reform, innovation and professional development
- A panel discussion from leaders at some of our member healthcare organizations
Being able to hear directly from our members that what we’re doing is truly making a difference in the lives of their patients was one of those “feel good” moments I will never forget.
And I’m sure you’ve heard the buzz about our company going public and how we recently rang the opening bell at Nasdaq. But since we couldn’t take 1,500 employees to NYC to celebrate the largest initial public offering in Charlotte’s history, we brought the excitement to them! Employees gathered and rang the opening bell for the NASDAQ exchange from Charlotte, NC. And the event was broadcast live on the big screen in Times Square and on national television!
But the fun didn’t stop there. Here are some other highlights:
Our Multicultural Fair gave our employees the opportunity to celebrate the wide variety of cultures that are represented here at Premier. From the Indian, Caribbean, Greek and Ethiopian cuisines to the henna artists and Latin, Indian and Filipino dancing, employees got a glimpse into the cultural backgrounds of their peers.
Premier Gives Back
As part of our Values Conference, we partner with Hands On Charlotte to coordinate a half day of activities to support local nonprofit organizations. This year, employees provided 3,000 hours of service to 32 organizations across the Charlotte area. From processing clothing donations and helping teachers shop for school supplies to maintaining horse barns and sorting food donations, our employees had the opportunity to make a difference in the community.
Values, pTHINK and Business Innovation awards
After such a successful year, it’s great to see employees get recognized by their peers for the hard work they’ve put in. Our Premier Values Award and Team Award honor teams and individuals who live our values and show their passion for performance, focus on people, innovation and integrity. Not only are they recognized in front of everyone at our awards dinner, but they get to take home a nice cash award!
Also, with our pTHINK and Business Innovation awards, we honor employees who have implemented a cutting-edge idea, program or technology that has or will improve the way we do business.
Even though we’ve had a lot of changes at Premier this year with going public, this conference solidifies that we’ve maintained our identity and stayed true to our values. Our board and leadership team invest in this conference as a way for employees to grow and learn about both Premier and themselves.
Another successful year for the Values Conference!
