Just 12 weeks ago, I traded in my student I.D. for an employee badge, as I kicked off my summer internship with Premier Inc. From managing projects to hitting deadlines and delivering presentations, my time at Premier taught me a lot about how to be successful in a business setting. I also learned how important creativity and inspiration is to success. Whether you’re an executive or an intern, here are three ways to find inspiration at work.
1: Channel Your Creativity
According to a 2012 study by Adobe, approximately 85 percent of Americans agree that creativity is key to driving economic growth. Why? Because creativity is a catalyst for innovation and good ideas. Whether it’s by scheduling an office corn hole competition or setting up a group brainstorming session, never stop looking for new ways to energize the office and channel your creativity.

2: Lend a Helping Hand
Sometimes, nonconventional ways to find inspiration while encouraging teamwork and increasing morale is by volunteering for community organizations outside the office. According to a UnitedHealth Group study, 81 percent of those who volunteered in the last year agreed that it helped strengthen relationships with colleagues. Our team recently volunteered at the Second Harvest Food Bank, where we prepared and sorted donated food, toys and furniture.
Not only was this a great team-building experience, but also an opportunity to leverage our skills outside of the office to make a difference in the community.
3: Collaborate With Your Colleagues
If you’re feeling stuck and don’t know how to move forward on a project, it might be time to bring in your colleagues. During my time as an intern at Premier, I found that collaboration is one of the most effective ways to inspire innovation and take your ideas to the next level. By meeting with several different Premier employees across experience levels and areas of expertise, I learned how to continually challenge my way of thinking and look at things from a different perspective.
