Each year at Premier’s Annual Breakthroughs Conference and Exhibition, we honor member and supplier organizations through a series of performance awards.
Why, you ask?
The awards event is just a small part of Premier’s efforts to encourage innovation, collaboration and excellence in quality, safety and supply chain operations. We’re so proud of the accomplishments of our members and our supplier partners, and want to recognize them and share their stories in the company of their peers!
For example, how cool is this? Our 2014 Supplier Diversity Award winner, Zones, Inc., supports minority business owners through participation in academic programs and is one of the founding sponsors of the University of Washington Business Executive Program, which enables minority business leaders to develop the skills needed to grow a successful business. Zones, Inc. provides paid scholarships to fellow minority business owners to attend the program.
Then there’s Banner Health, one of our Supply Chain Innovation award winners, who has successfully implemented a centralized compounding and repackaging center to reduce supply and labor costs and increase efficiencies. As an industry leader, Banner chose to identify their own solution to the rising costs and supply shortages affecting the practice of pharmacy today. They’ve already identified savings of $3.7 million by eliminating the fee-for-service cost, labor cost and profit margin of outsourced vendors.
Premier’s awards night also allows small facilities, like 36-bed Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Azle, to shine. This hospital, which was the sole winner of our QUEST® Award for High-value Healthcare in 2012, has just received the award for the 3rd year in a row! This means that for 3 years straight, they’ve achieved top performance in all 6 dimensions of our QUEST collaborative: cost, evidence-based care, mortality, harm, patient experience and readmissions. This is a truly awesome achievement, deserving of our applause!
